Overview
Tirzepatide is a 39-amino-acid dual agonist that binds both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors from a single peptide backbone, with a C20 fatty-diacid moiety that extends its half-life in solution. Supplied as a sterile lyophilised powder in 20mg, 40mg and 60mg vials, verified to ≥98% purity by RP-HPLC and confirmed by mass spectrometry. Research
In vitro, Tirzepatide is used to characterise co-activation of the GIP and GLP-1 receptors — including cAMP accumulation, β-arrestin recruitment and receptor-bias studies. It is often used as a comparator peptide when characterising newer molecules such as Retatrutide or Cagrilintide combinations.

- Step 1Bring the pen to room temperature
Take the Tirzepatide pen out of the fridge 10–15 minutes before use. Cold solution is thicker and dispenses less accurately. Never microwave, warm in hot water or shake the pen.
- Step 2Inspect the cartridge
Hold the pen to the light. Reconstituted Tirzepatide should be clear and colourless with no particles or cloudiness. If it looks off, stop and contact us.
- Step 3Attach a fresh needle
Wipe the septum with an alcohol swab, then screw on a new 32G 6mm pen needle. Use a new needle every time — reused needles blunt, contaminate and cause dose loss.
- Step 4Prime the pen
Dial 2 units, point the needle upwards and press until a droplet appears at the tip. Priming clears the air gap so the first dose is a full dose.
- Step 5Dial the dose in clicks
One click equals 0.01mL. At 40mg in 3mL (13.33mg/mL) one click is about 0.133mg, so 2.5mg is roughly 19 clicks. Use the calibrated clicks-per-mg card in your box or our free reconstitution calculator.
- Step 6Dispense and hold
Press the plunger fully and hold for 6–10 seconds before withdrawing so the full dialled volume is delivered.
- Step 7Remove the needle and refrigerate
Unscrew and bin the needle in a sharps container — never store the pen with a needle attached. Return the pen to 2–8°C.
