What is Selank?
Tuftsin is a four-residue fragment of immunoglobulin G with documented immunomodulatory activity. Selank attaches a Pro-Gly-Pro tail to that fragment, which markedly slows enzymatic degradation.
The result is a short peptide that survives long enough in solution to be studied, retaining tuftsin's core sequence.
Research context — anxiolytic and BDNF findings
Published preclinical work examines Selank in relation to GABAergic signalling, BDNF expression and monoamine turnover, and it has been studied in anxiolytic models without the sedation profile associated with benzodiazepines.
