NAD+ UK — Cellular Coenzyme Research Guide

Also known as Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is not a peptide — it is a coenzyme present in every living cell, central to redox reactions and to the enzymes that depend on it.

It is included in research peptide catalogues because it is used in the same laboratory context, but the chemistry and the research literature are quite different.

For in vitro research use only — not for human or animal consumption. Not a licensed medicine in the UK. Nothing on this page is medical advice.

What is NAD+?

NAD+ is a dinucleotide built from nicotinamide and adenine. It cycles between its oxidised (NAD+) and reduced (NADH) forms, acting as the electron carrier for a large share of cellular metabolism.

It is also the substrate for sirtuins and PARP enzymes, which consume NAD+ rather than simply recycling it — the reason cellular NAD+ availability is an active research topic.

Research context

Published work examines NAD+ availability in mitochondrial function, DNA repair signalling and age-associated metabolic change. Levels of the coenzyme are reported to decline with age in several tissue models, which is the basis of most current interest.

This is laboratory research literature. NAD+ supplied here is for in vitro research use only and is not a medicine.

Handling and storage

Supplied lyophilised in a 500mg vial. Add bacteriostatic water slowly down the vial wall and swirl gently until fully dissolved — the larger mass may take longer to clear than a typical 10mg peptide vial. Never shake.

NAD+ is light-sensitive and less stable in solution than most peptides. Keep it refrigerated at 2–8°C, protect from light, and use within 28 days.

Frequently asked questions

Is NAD+ a peptide?

No. NAD+ is a dinucleotide coenzyme, not a chain of amino acids. It appears alongside research peptides because it is used in the same laboratory setting, but it is a different class of molecule.

Is NAD+ legal in the UK?

NAD+ is legal to buy and possess in the UK for laboratory research purposes. It is not a licensed medicine in the UK, is not prescribed by the NHS, and is supplied strictly for in vitro research use only — not for human or animal consumption.

How is NAD+ reconstituted?

NAD+ is supplied lyophilised. Add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently — never shake, as agitation can damage the peptide chain. Once dissolved, store at 2–8°C and use within 28 days. Use our free peptide calculator for exact volumes rather than following generic charts.

Do you supply a Certificate of Analysis for NAD+?

Yes. Every batch is independently HPLC and mass-spec tested and the batch number on the vial matches a published Certificate of Analysis, so purity can be verified before use.

How fast is UK delivery?
