What is Cagrilintide?
Amylin is a 37-amino-acid hormone released with insulin after eating. Native amylin aggregates readily and has a very short half-life, which makes it impractical as a research tool. Cagrilintide is an engineered, acylated analogue designed for stability and a long duration of action.
It binds the amylin receptor complexes and the calcitonin receptor — a completely separate axis from GLP-1, GIP or glucagon receptors.
